METROWAGONMASH factory (MWM, part of TMH) has sent four metro trains to Baku Metro (Republic of Azerbaijan).

The contract for the manufacture of 60 metro cars of the 81-765.B/766.B series consisting of 12 metro trains in a five-car configuration was signed in October 2019. The contract is for the period from 2020 to 2023.

The head cars of the new trains have space for disabled passengers, as well as areas for strollers and bicycles. The train design provides for passage through all the cars, which is especially important during the coronavirus pandemic. The passage allows moving freely through the train, keeping the social distance between passengers.

The train has enlarged doorways, which makes it possible to speed up the entrance and exit of passengers; a new system of doors opening and closing light warning is used. The original color – new graphic scheme has been developed especially for Baku cars, the design of the headlights has been modified, and an information system has been adapted to local conditions.

Metro cars of 81-765.B/766.B series have improved noise and heat insulation, air conditioning and ventilation systems with air disinfection. An automatic air disinfection system using UV filters contributes to additional protection against the spread of viral and bacterial infections, including COVID-19. The cabin is equipped with LED lamps that change the lighting depending on the time of day - invigorating cold light in the morning and relaxing warm light in the evening; there are USB sockets for charging electronic devices and other gadgets. The seat covering is made of durable, damage-resistant fabric.

Metrowagonmash has been supplying rolling stock to the capital of Azerbaijan since 1967. As of today, the Baku Metro operates over 300 metro cars manufactured by MWM. In 2018-2019, the factory supplied 8 five-car trains of 81-765.B/766.B series in the Baku metro. The rolling stock received the most positive feedback from passengers and drivers.
