Mytishchi, February 11, 2019 Transmashholding will manufacture 8 new cars of the 81-717.6/714.6 model for Ekaterinburg metro on Metrowagonmash (MWM, part of JSC Transmashholding). This was reported in the Directorate for External Relations and Corporate Communications of Transmashholding.

The contract for the supply was signed by the director of JSC Metrowagonmash, Boris Bogatyrev, and the director of Ekaterinburg Municipal Unitary Enterprise «Ekaterinburg metro» Andrey Panaiotidi.

Under the terms of the contract, 4 head and 4 intermediate cars (two trains) must be handed over to the customer within 35 days from the date of its conclusion.

New cars can be coupled with those already available in Ekaterinburg metro (the fleet consists of trains model 81-717/714 and their modifications). Low-combustible and fireproof materials will be used for the interior of the cabin and salons. All cars produced at the enterprise meet modern technical requirements for fire safety, electrical safety and environmental cleanliness.

The cars of 81-717.6/714.6 model comply with the latest requirements for traffic safety. The doorways are equipped with on-board doors-closing warning devices. Sliding doors are mounted with automatic opening system in case there is an obstacle between the doors (“obstacle detection and squeezing protection system”). The salon of each car is equipped with forced ceiling mechanical ventilation. In the end, part of the head car there is a place for disabled passengers. Trains are equipped with video surveillance with the transfer of information to the monitor in the driver's cab. According to the technical task, each head car can accommodate up to 308 people, the number of seats is 39. It should reach speed of up to 90 km/h; the intermediate cars are designed for 48 seats with a maximum capacity of 330 people.

Ekaterinburg metro is one of the youngest in Russia, it was opened in 1991. Metrowagonmash has been cooperating with Ekaterinburg metro since 2011 and delivered 8 metro cars of model 81-717.5М / 81-714.5М.
