Metrowagonmash (MWM, part of TMH) and the Samara Metro signed a contract for the overhaul and repair of six metro cars model 81-717/714 with service life extension.

The agreement is valid until the end of November this year. The repair will extend the service life of the rolling stock by 15 years. The renovated metro cars will meet the highest requirements in terms of energy efficiency and operational reliability.

According to the terms of reference, as part of the overhaul and restoration work in the rolling stock, it is planned to replace electrical equipment, repair the roof and automatic couplers, restore the coating of external handrails, replace bogie frames and wheelsets. The passenger salon will be equipped with video surveillance with broadcast on the driver’s monitor: four video cameras in the cabin will provide an overview of the entire space, 2 video cameras in the control cabin will monitor the indicators on the driver’s monitor and the path in front of the train. As part of the modernization, glass windows and doors will be replaced, head cars will be equipped with seats for the disabled.

It is expected that all the work will be carried out by a branch of Metrowagonmash located at the site of the Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Factory in St. Petersburg.

Metrowagonmash and the Samara Metro have been cooperating since 1987. In the spring of 2020, Metrowagonmash sent a new 81-717.6/714.6 model metro train to the Samara Metro. In December, the company delivered to Samara 6 overhauled metro cars.
