OJSC “Metrowagonmash” (Mytischi, part of JSC Transmashholding) completed the performance of the supply contract for 27 two-car diesel multiple units DP-S to Serbian Railways. This was reported in the Directorate for External Relations of Transmashholding. The DMU supply contract was signed in October 2014. The total cost of the rolling stock built by the Serbian order is USD 100 million. Previously in 2011 – 2013, Metrowagonmash manufactured 12 similar trains for Serbian Railways. DP-S is the only DMU produced in series in Russia designed for operation on the “European” track gauge of 1425 mm. It is developed especially for Serbian Railways according to specifications provided by the customer. DMU is meant to carry passengers on the non-electrified railway sections and is equipped with advanced fuel-saving diesel engines. Inter-car gangways providing safe and comfortable passenger passage movement inside the whole train are used in the train design. The driver’s cabs and passenger saloons are equipped with HVAC system. The multifunctional area which is intended to store baby strollers, bicycles, wheelchairs and oversize baggage is located close to the sanitary unit in the car. The number of folding seats is located on both sides of the car and opposite to the sanitary unit. Passenger landing and unloading is provided for both high and low platforms as well as from the ground level. DP-S DMU complies with all requirements of current international standards and European regulations on the noise level, energy efficiency, quality of materials, and exhaust emissions. The Russian DMUs are based in depots of Vršac, Zrenyanin, Zajecar, Lapovo, Sombor, and Ruma. During operation a lot of positive feedback was received from passengers who appreciated the high level of assembly quality and comfort.
