On June 14, 2023, Metrovagonmash JSC was included in the sanctions list by the US State Department as a company «involved in the production of military equipment». This inclusion is erroneous, since Metrovagonmash is not involved in the production of any military products.

The company specializes in the manufacture of products exclusively for civil purposes: subway cars, rail buses and spare parts, as well as major repairs, modernization and maintenance of these products.

The company is exploring the possibility of contacting the competent US authorities in order to be excluded from the sanctions list.
