November 21, 2018, more than 30 heads of diplomatic missions representing the interests of their countries in the Russian Federation visited the factory of Metrowagonmash (MWM, part of JSC Transmashholding). The visit was organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

Representatives of foreign countries saw MWM’s modern production of metro cars, built in the principle of standard line and new equipment that has been put into operation in recent years. Foreign diplomats got acquainted with the capabilities of the holding company involved in the design and production of modern high-tech rolling stock for rail vehicles on the example of this Moscow Region enterprise.

In his welcoming speech, Director General of JSC Metrowagonmash Boris Bogatyrev said that the company is part of JSC Transmashholding since 2005 and is the leading manufacturer of modern cars for metros in all large cities of Russia, the CIS countries and several European countries. The company ranks Top five largest world manufacturers of metro cars. More than 3 thousand people work here every day to create modern rolling stock. More than 9,000 cars manufactured by the company are operated in 19 cities of 11 countries of the world. Over the years, Metrowagonmash has produced more than 10 model of metro cars and modifications.

One of production directions is the manufacture of railways products - rail buses and diesel trains (DMUs), designed to operate on suburban and interregional non-electrified routes.

The guests were shown samples of modern products - the Moskva Metro train, produced by Metrowagonmash, and other products of Transmashholding enterprises.

This event for foreign diplomatic representatives was organized by Transmashholding for the first time.

“We have a clear strategy that we have been implementing in 6 key countries. The government of the Russian Federation has helped us with export financing. As a result, we have created an international team,” said the president of the international division of Transmashholding, TMH International, Hans Schabert.

In 2018, Transmashholding won a tender in Argentina for the repair of Chinese-made rolling stock operating on the San Martin line. The company invested $ 3 million in the modernization of the Mechita depot in Bragado, Buenos Aires province. In October 2018, TMH acquired a machine-building enterprise in Boksburg (South Africa).

During his talk with journalists, the Ambassador of Bulgaria, Atanas Krstin said that he was impressed with the tour. “We have long-standing and good relations with Transmashholding, we have been a client of MWM since the opening of the metro in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia,” the Ambassador said. “We use your metro cars, and it was interesting for us to see the latest modern developments and modifications of metro cars.”

MWM General Director Boris Bogatyrev in his interview said that Metrowagonmash would sign the contract in December of this year and will overhaul and modernize 48 cars of the 717.4 / 714.4 series of the Sofia Metro in 2019-2020.

“We constantly export our products. Thus this year we delivered metro cars of “Moskva” model to Baku Metro and completed the overhaul contract with the extension of life cycle of 222 cars belonging to Budapest Metro,” said Boris Bogatyrev. - We plan to expand the geography of our supplies. In addition to metro cars, a new rail bus will be certified in 2019, the African region countries are very interested in this transport - this is our promising market and, I hope, we will start supplying rail buses to both Latin America and African regions.”
